About Us
1st Wychwoods Scout Group is based in Milton-under-Wychwood and Shipton-under-Wychwood, in West Oxfordshire. We have a youth membership of around 90 and about 15 adult leaders.
The Group consists of four Sections:
- Beaver Scouts for boys & girls aged 6 to 8 years
- Cub Scouts for boys & girls aged 8 to 10½ years
- Scouts for boys & girls aged 10½ to 14 years
- Explorers for boys & girls aged 14 to 18 years
<insert some history of the group>
More recently, as well as the normal day to day adventures, the Group has organised trips to Kandersteg, in Switzerland, for activities including white water rafting, canyoning, and mountain hikes. Some members of our group have attended international Jamboree camps based in Iceland, camping alongside thousands of other Scouts from all around the world.
Our Board of Trustees work alongside the uniformed leaders, looking after the finances, administration, and governance.
All of the adults working in the Group are volunteers and give their time freely; they are the reason for our success. We adopt a ‘flexible volunteering’ approach so their time commitment can vary from an hour or so a month to a few hours a week.
